York University has been on a strike that has served to not only anger students and parents, but has now come to the government. This past weekend the province discussed the possibility of passing back-to-work legislation that was opposed by the NDP. The Liberals have been criticized for not dealing with this issue sooner.
Students have been off of school for 11 weeks, and are working on a class action lawsuit for a refund of the 12% of their overall fees. This figure represents the amount of school students have currently not been able to attend.
This is not the first strike that York University has had, in 2005/2006 the university had a strike that lasted 3 months surrounding the same issues.
